Sick Notes

The government has made us responsible to provide sick notes after the first  7 days of absence from work, due to illness, if there is a medical need for that certificate. Please also see DWP online for up to date information.

Your Responsibilities to us Are:

  • Not to ask for a sick note for the first 7 days of absence from work.
  • By law, you are to complete self-certificates available from your employer or online, as this will cover you for the first 7 days of absence from work.  If you, or your employers request a certificate to cover the first week of absence, then this will be classified as a private sick note and a fee will be charged based on the BMA figures.
  • Not to expect a sick note on Repeat basis. There are legal implications to sick notes. You must be seen, and if you need one, then one will be issued.
